The purpose of our preschool program is to inspire the joy of learning in children from a Biblical perspective, to start them on a life long journey of learning, and to prepare them for our Kindergarten program.

The classroom is arranged in learning centers where active preschoolers can work individually, in small groups, and with the whole group. The schedule will be balanced to include energetic and reflective activities.

Our preschool program is under the administration of the GPCS Association. The GPCSA elects from its membership the Board of Directors who shall administer the affairs of the school. The daily program is supervised by our qualified teacher. Each staff member has a committed relationship to Jesus Christ.

Our curriculum will encourage children to be actively involved in the learning process, to experience a variety of age appropriate activities and materials, and to pursue their own interests in the context of the classroom, the GPCS community, and God’ world.

After school care will be provided by the teachers at GPCS.  Each day a different teacher may provide the care.  After school care will be provided in that teacher's classroom unless other arrangements have been made.  That teacher's classroom rules will apply.  Teachers providing after school care through this program will not be expected to provide games, playground supervision, tutoring, etc. during the after care hours.  Children should come prepared with their own games, homework, books, etc. to provide entertainment.

After school care must be scheduled and paid for , prior to the month it is to be provided in.  The schedule will be maintained in the GPCS office.  This allows our teachers to plan their own schedules, and if no children are scheduled for a certain day, they are not required to remain in the school that afternoon.  If your child is not scheduled for after care prior to the 1st of any month, they may not be allowed to participate for that month.  Occasional, drop in care will be at each teacher's discretion.  All care must be paid for in advance!  In the case of drop in care, the parent picking the child up, must bring payment with them.

The discipline policy for GPCS will also apply to the after school program.  Please refer to your Parent/ Student Handbook for more information on this policy.

Payment for monthly care must be paid in advance of the first day of the month that care is to be provided in.  If payment is not received by the 1st of the month that care is to be provided in, your child will be expected to be picked up by 3:00pm, as normal GPCS Parent/Student Handbook guidelines indicate.  If payment has not been made, and a child is not picked up by 3:00pm, emergency contacts will be called to pick up the child.  Costs for after care is $10 per day per child; second child in the same immediate family -$5 per day; third child in the same immediate family- $2.50 per day.  There will be no after care on early release days.  Payment will not be required during holiday or school vacations when the school is otherwise closed.  In order to keep administration of the program manageable refunds/credits for absences will not be issued.

After school care hours will be from 3:00pm (normal coverage is provided on the playground from 2:30pm-3:30pm) until 5:30pm.  Any parent not picking their child up by 5:30pm, will be assessed a $20 penalty for the first occurrence.  The penalty for a second occurrence will be $35.  After a third occurrence, the child will no longer be allowed to participate in after school care.  This penalty must be paid, prior to the child returning to the after school program.
